Marinus Bee, Speaker of the National Assembly (DNA) and Secretary of the coalition party ABOP, believes that his party should be cherished. According to Bee, ABOP consistently brings fresh ideas and is the only party that strongly advocates for a solid social policy for the underprivileged. He mentioned that the party’s research bureau is actively developing plans, with promising initiatives for the country in progress.
Bee made these statements on the program De Tafel by Suriname Herald and Rasonic TV. He indicated that he does not want to reveal everything but emphasized that party leader and Vice President Ronnie Brunswijk recently announced that the party, with sufficient electoral support, would offer free education to the public. Since ABOP is committed to supporting weaker households and aims to bring change to the political landscape, Bee views the attacks on the party as a reaction to its growing influence.
He also noted that young people are not excluded and are given opportunities to develop within the organization. Despite challenges, ABOP remains dedicated to serving the interests of, particularly, the socially disadvantaged.
The politician stated that he does not understand the criticism of the party’s slogan, which claims it will secure more than 100,000 votes. According to Bee, the party has seen significant growth in each election, and he is confident that this goal can become a reality.
More Than 17 Seats
Bee expects that ABOP will win more than 17 seats in 2025. According to the Secretary, there is no reason to doubt the party, as it has proven itself in recent years. He calls on voters to ensure that ABOP gains a stronger position in 2025 to accomplish more for the community.
Bee emphasized that his party aims to help people become better individuals and ensure that all citizens have equal opportunities. With ABOP in the coalition, he believes that policies will have a more social focus. He believes that more investment is needed in strong families to ensure that young people have adequate development opportunities.
Bee further mentioned that he does not want to give a rating to the current government at this time and is waiting for the right moment to do so. However, he pointed out that the President and Vice President had a very challenging start. He acknowledges that mistakes have been made and honestly states that this cabinet does not deserve praise for policy unity. According to Bee, this is something the parties need to learn from.
